Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy is a treatment that uses hot and cold applications with low volt electrical sine wave stimulation to enhance venous and lymphatic flow. This increases the delivery of nutrients, oxygen, and immune system elements to the internal organs of the body. It also speeds the removal of metabolic wastes, inflammatory substances, and environmental toxins from the tissues.

The treatment is relaxing and the parasympathetic state that is achieved allows enhanced healing. Studies have shown that white blood cell counts increase within a few hours of having the treatment. The benefits of hydrotherapy last up to 24 hours, which makes it a very effective therapy for any disorder involving immune function. Hydrotherapy treatments are wonderful for stimulating the immune system to fight off acute infections, such as flus, colds, sinusitis, and pneumonia and for chronic conditions, such as gastrointestinal conditions, chronic pain and fatigue. We also utilize hydrotherapy for inducing increased metabolic rate for weight loss via hypotherm. Since water makes up most of our body, it makes sense that water therapy can help to heal the body and this is why we have a hydrotherapy suite at the Health and Healing Center.
